Libre software is like knowledge: without limits. This is why we assert for mankind the right to create, to think, to innovate, and to communicate without limits. Our movement is worldwide, both ultra-liberal and communautarian, and can be classified in no traditional scheme. It is part of the new trends that will characterize this age. This is why, at the Libre Software Meeting, we fight against software patents. We demand that all Men have the right to access techniques and knowledge, whatever their country and social condition might be.

We also defend open norms and standards, guarantors of the freedom to communicate. It is the guarantee of the right to share knowledge. Normalisation can seem antagonistic to freedom, but without it the freedom to communicate would be a lure. This duality is necessary to evolution and exists everywhere in Nature. The selection of species described by Darwin also applies to software. Some succeed, some wait for better days, and some disappear. It is this subtle balance that brings progess. Let us hope that the Libre Software Meeting will contribute to it.

The Internet allows us to communicate, but physical meetings between individuals are irreplaceable. Thanks to them, we will improve not only libre software, but also liberty, equality, and fraternity between all Men on Earth.
