Motivations

Yes, we have motivations! Well, the first point is to have an Python event on this side of the Atlantic sea, i.e. in Europe. We also want people to meet together and rub the internet virtualization. Then, this event is a place to learn, discover, ask and share for the European Python Community.

Then, we want to produce some actual work. We are suggesting some workgroups and any idea is welcome. So far, the workgroups will deal with documentation.

All European Python User Group are welcome, contact us if you want to make a specific speech for a given User Group.

Subtopics

We have there some subtopics with speakers. Some workshop could be held on any others subtopics, as far as we have enough people there (e.g. GUI, DBMS, Zope...)

We will have some dedicated rooms, a room for French translation, a room for Pythonizators (a meeting point for us ;) and some day-to-day allocated rooms for specific sub-sub-sub-topics.

• NumPy  Konrad Hinsen

  Konrad will explain us the Python module for numerical simulation.

• XML  Martin von Loewis

  Martin is one of the 4Suite developpers and he probably be we us for LSM.

• ReportLab 

  A ReportLab developper will be present for a speech.

• Unicode  Marc-André Lemburg

  Marc-André took part in the Python Unicode implementation. He will present us the use of Unicode and some interpreter integration issues.

• Python Mail System  Moshe Zadka

  Python Mail System is a framework for writing Mail User Agents -- programs used to read e-mail and compose it. It features a pluggable mail storage architecture and a pluggable user interface. It is completely configurable in Python and should be easy to embed into larger Python applications which need to support e-mail.

• Internet and Zope  Stéfane Fermigier

  Stéfane is a long time Python user and trainer, he will cover Zope and the internet services with this language.

• Translation workgroup  Benoît Lacherez

  Benoît is the french translation coordinator for the language documentation. He will suggest some working groups at LSM.

  • Glossaire Python Français/Anglais
    A French/English glossary for Python, it can be extended to any other language (welcome to our German, Spanish, Italian or any other folks).
  • Finalisation de certaines docs
    We will try hard to finish some translations
  • Problémes de suivi de la doc anglaise et outils
    How to update the french docs ? Discussions about methods and tools.
• Python en 100 tranches  Marc Poinot

  Marc uses Python since 1994, he will give a (french) tutorial from starting the interpreter to module delivery.
